I’ve just bought an Apple TV as it is the only device that supports all of my streaming services. Chromecast kind of works but not terribly well in a family room as it has to be shared with one person’s phone. Generally one service is missing off every other device but with Apple TV everything works. There is definitely a market for the one streaming device that rules them all.

The only other device I’ve seen that supports everything is an LG TV but with the lifespan of a TV panel being around a decade, the chances of all those services still working by the end of the TV’s lifespan are pretty minimal.

The only problem with the Apple TV so far is the terrible trackpad thing on the remote. Speaking as somebody who has built interactive TV interfaces for nearly 20 years, this is a fundamental UI failure. The traditional four arrow buttons with select in the middle arrangement is so much easier to use. In fact the remote is generally a shambles even if it looks pretty. Menu = Back on almost every other device and it seriously needs a home button. I didn’t have to use Google to figure out how a NowTV remote works.
